What does a Dubai desert safari actually look like?
These are real, first-party photos from our own Dubai desert safaris, not stock images. They show the full experience: a 4×4 climbing and sliding over the golden dunes of Al Awir, the sunset turning the sand orange and pink, guests on camel rides, the desert camp lit up at dusk, the BBQ buffet, and the live shows, belly dance, the spinning LED Tanoura and the fire show.
Desert safari pictures and sunset photos are the main reason many guests book: the golden hour on the dunes is the best light of the day.
Most photos you find online for this search are free stock libraries or someone elses holiday snaps. Everything here is from our camp, our guests and our dunes, so what you see is genuinely what you get. Browse the gallery below, then scroll on for honest guidance on where and when to take the best shots, what to wear, and how to pose, the things no other photo page bothers to explain.

Best Photo Spots and Timing on a Dubai Desert Safari

No other photo page tells you this, but where and when you shoot makes all the difference. The single best window is the golden hour, roughly the last hour before sunset, when the low sun turns the sand warm orange, throws long shadows across the dune ripples, and softens every face. Midday light is harsh and flat by comparison. On an evening safari you arrive in time for exactly this window.
Sunset times shift through the year, from around 5:35 PM in winter to about 7:10 PM in midsummer, so the safari pickup moves with the season to land you on the dunes for golden hour. For exact times by month, see our timings guide. If photos are your priority, tell us when you book and we will make sure you are positioned for the best light.
Posing Ideas and Photo Shot List

A few simple poses turn ordinary snaps into the shots you will actually frame. None of these need a professional, your phone and a friend are enough.
Camera, Phone and Drone Tips
The desert is hard on cameras, so a little preparation protects your gear and your shots.
Drones: flying a drone in the UAE is tightly regulated and generally requires registration and permits, and many desert areas are restricted. Do not assume you can fly, please ask us first and we will tell you honestly what is and is not allowed at the camp on your date.
Professional Photos, Falcon and Camel Shots

If you want proper keepsake images rather than phone snaps, we can arrange a professional photographer at the camp from USD 14 / AED 50 to 150, depending on how much coverage you want. It is the easiest way to come home with polished golden-hour portraits without juggling your own camera.
Two of the most popular photo moments are paid extras: a falcon photograph on your wrist is USD 8 / AED 30, and a longer camel ride for proper photos is USD 82 / AED 300 for two people. A short camel ride, sandboarding, the sunset stop and Arabic costumes are already included in the safari, so plenty of great shots cost nothing extra.
Can I download these photos for free?
Honest answer: the photos on this page are our own, taken at our camp, so they are not free stock downloads. If you simply need free desert images for a project, stock libraries have them, but they will be generic. The real point of a desert safari is to make your own memories, and these photos show exactly what you can capture when you come. Book a safari and the dunes, the sunset and the camp are all yours to photograph.

Dubai Desert Safari Photos: FAQs
Can I download these desert safari Dubai photos for free?
The photos on this page are our own first-party images, taken at our camp, so they are not free stock downloads. If you just need generic free desert images, stock libraries have them, but the real value is making your own memories, which is exactly what a safari lets you photograph.
What are the best photo spots on a Dubai desert safari?
The dune crest against the sky, the sunset point, an open dune face for walking shots, beside the camel, a close-up with the falcon, and the camp lights at blue hour. Golden hour, the last hour before sunset, gives the warmest, most flattering light.
Where is the best sunset photography point?
On a high dune crest facing west, where you can frame silhouettes against the sun as it drops behind the dunes. On an evening safari we time your arrival for exactly this window; tell us photos matter and we will position you well.
What should I wear for a desert safari photoshoot?
Whites, creams and earth tones glow at golden hour, while jewel tones contrast the sand cleanly. Flowing fabrics catch the breeze beautifully. Avoid busy patterns and heavy all-black in the daytime heat, and go flat or barefoot since heels sink. See our what to wear guide for more.
What are good posing or shot ideas?
Walk slowly along a dune crest, make a clean silhouette at sunset, jump on a down-slope in burst mode, leave a trail of footprints, pose with the camel or falcon, and line your group along the ridge at golden hour. Simple poses with good light beat complicated ones.
Can I do a professional photoshoot in the Dubai desert?
Yes. We can arrange a professional photographer at the camp from USD 14 / AED 50 to 150, ideal for couples, families and special occasions. Tell us when you book and we will set it up so you come home with polished golden-hour images.
Can I bring a camera or a drone?
Cameras and phones are very welcome, just protect them from sand. Drones are a different matter: flying one in the UAE is tightly regulated and usually needs permits, and many desert areas are restricted. Ask us first; do not assume you can fly.
What is the best time of day for desert safari photos?
Golden hour, roughly the last hour before sunset, for warm light and long shadows, then blue hour just after sunset for the camp lights. Midday light is harsh and flat. An evening safari lands you on the dunes for the best window.
Are photos with the falcon or camel included?
A short camel ride and the sunset photo stop are included free. A falcon photograph on your wrist is a paid extra at USD 8 / AED 30, and a longer camel ride for proper photos is USD 82 / AED 300 for two people. Arabic costumes for photos are also free at the camp.
How do I protect my camera or phone from sand?
Keep gear in a sealed bag between shots, avoid changing lenses on the dunes, carry a microfibre cloth to wipe off dust, and bring a power bank since heat drains batteries. A little care keeps every frame sharp.
Are these genuinely your own photos?
Yes. Everything in the gallery is from our own camp, our guests and our dunes near Al Awir, not stock imagery. What you see is genuinely what you get when you book with us.
How much is a desert safari and how do I book?

If we have to cancel, what happens?
A cancellation policy that covers your obligations but not ours is only half a document. Here is our side of it, in writing.
If we have to cancel your booking, for weather, a vehicle issue, or driver illness, we will contact you as soon as we know and rebook you at no charge on the next date that works for you. You pay nothing for the cancelled booking.
If we need to send a different vehicle than the one you booked, we will ask you first rather than turning up in something you did not book.
This is separate from your own cancellation rights, which are unchanged: you can cancel free up to 12 hours before pickup. Because we take no deposit and no booking fee, there is no money of yours sitting with us either way: nothing to chase, and nothing to wait for.
