Desert Safari from Abu Dhabi, at Our Own Al Khatim Camp
A desert safari in Abu Dhabi with us starts with pickup around 3 PM and ends back at your hotel by about 10:30 PM. You get 15 to 20 minutes of dune bashing, a short camel ride, sandboarding and the sunset, then a halal BBQ buffet with belly dance, tanoura and fire shows at our own camp in Al Khatim, 45 to 55 minutes from the city. Only the ride to camp changes the price.

Dubai Desert Safari at Al Awir and the Lahbab Red Dunes
Staying in Dubai, Sharjah or Ajman? You do not need to come to Abu Dhabi. Our Dubai safaris use two camps: Al Awir, about 50 to 55 minutes from the city, and the red dunes of Lahbab, about 1 hour 10 minutes away. Shared pickups run from 2:30 to 3:30 PM, and a private car or Land Cruiser can collect you anywhere in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Ajman.

Is Abu Dhabi or Dubai better for a desert safari?
Both give you the same evening: dune bashing, a camel ride, sandboarding, a BBQ buffet and live shows, from USD 10 (AED 35) per person. Book the city you are staying in. From Abu Dhabi we drive 45 to 55 minutes to our own camp at Al Khatim. From Dubai the camps are at Al Awir, about 50 to 55 minutes away, or on the Lahbab red dunes, about 1 hour 10 minutes away.
What tours does Royal Arabian Safari run?

Which tour should I book on my first visit to the UAE?
Most first-time guests start with the evening desert safari, because it covers the dunes, a camel ride, sunset, dinner and shows in one booking. If you have a second day, add a private city tour to see the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi or the Burj Khalifa area in Dubai.
Can I book a desert safari and a city tour together?
Yes. You can book both in one WhatsApp chat, in the same city or across Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and we arrange the pickups for each day.
Is Royal Arabian Safari licensed?

Which areas do you pick up from?
We pick up across Abu Dhabi city and across Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman for Dubai tours. Shared bus guests meet at our listed pickup points. For Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah or Al Ain, send us your address on WhatsApp and we quote the price.
Is the price per person or per car?
Shared safaris are priced per person: self-drive, shared bus and shared 4×4 hotel pickup. Private safaris, city tours and layover tours are priced per car, so the whole group shares one price. Children under 3 are free.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
No. We take no deposit. You confirm on WhatsApp and pay on the day. You can cancel or move your booking for free up to 12 hours before pickup, and if bad weather stops a tour you owe nothing.
Are the prices on your website final?
Yes. The prices you see already include our current up to 30% off, which runs for a limited time. The price we confirm on WhatsApp is the price you pay on the day.
How is your Al Khatim camp different from Al Fakka camps?
Al Khatim is 45 to 55 minutes from Abu Dhabi, while many Al Fakka camps take about 2.5 hours. It is our own camp, with clean toilets, shaded seating, a free kids play area and halal food with vegetarian options.
Do you run tours in summer and during Ramadan?
Yes, all year. In summer the Abu Dhabi safari picks up around 4 PM, when the heat has dropped, and returns by about 10 PM. During Ramadan every show runs except the belly dance, and our city tours run as normal.
How do I book a desert safari online in Abu Dhabi or Dubai?

What is the difference between a standard and a VIP desert safari?
Both include the same dune bashing, camel ride, sandboarding, dinner and live shows. With VIP you sit on sofa seating close to the stage and your dinner is served at your table instead of the buffet line. VIP seating is USD 16 (AED 60) per person in Abu Dhabi and USD 14 (AED 50) in Dubai, added to any safari. See what is included on our VIP desert safari page.
Is a morning or an evening desert safari better?
Choose the evening safari for the sunset, the BBQ dinner and the live shows. In Abu Dhabi it picks up around 3 PM and has you back by about 10:30 PM. Choose the morning safari for cooler air, quiet dunes and a shorter trip: it is private, picks up between 5 and 8 AM and serves no meal. Full details are on our morning desert safari page.
Which car is best for a desert safari?
Every dune drive on our safaris is done in a 4×4 with a roll cage and a seatbelt in every seat, by a driver who holds a dune driving permit. For a private safari, our Land Cruiser is the premium choice: more room for your group and a smoother ride over the dunes. It costs USD 245 (AED 899) per car in Abu Dhabi and USD 272 (AED 999) in Dubai, against USD 190 (AED 699) for a private sedan or 4×4. Choose it under the private options when you book.
Which currencies can I pay in?
You pay on the day, in cash, with no deposit before. We accept UAE dirhams and all major currencies, including US dollars, euros, British pounds, Canadian dollars and Swiss francs. If you would rather pay by card, tell us on WhatsApp when you book.
