How much is a taxi from Abu Dhabi to Dubai?
A metered Abu Dhabi taxi typically costs AED 250 to 330 one way, about USD 68 to 90. Salik tolls in Dubai add AED 4 to 6 per gate. Dubai Marina sits at the lower end, while Deira and the airport cost the most.
How long is the drive?
Plan on 1 hour 20 minutes to 2 hours on the E11, depending on traffic. Weekday mornings heading into Dubai and evenings leaving it are usually the slowest periods.
What is the cheapest way?
The intercity bus costs AED 25 to 30 a seat, plus a local taxi from the bus station. The new Etihad Rail train starts from AED 39, although both stations are outside the city centres.
When does a private car make sense?
It makes sense for families, groups of three or more, heavy luggage or a same day return. Our fixed price is USD 327 (AED 1,200) for the whole vehicle, carrying up to 7 guests.
Taxi fare from Abu Dhabi to each part of Dubai
Dubai stretches a long way along the coast, so your destination changes the fare more than anything else. The estimates below start from central Abu Dhabi, around the Corniche and Al Markaziyah. Yas Island and Zayed International Airport are about 30 km closer, so subtract roughly AED 50.

How the Abu Dhabi taxi meter adds up
Silver Abu Dhabi taxis use a meter regulated by Abu Dhabi Mobility. These are the official published rates, so you can calculate any fare yourself.

Consider a typical 145 km journey to Downtown Dubai. The AED 5 starting charge plus 145 kilometres at AED 1.82 comes to about AED 269. Fifteen minutes waiting in traffic near Al Barsha adds another AED 7.50. That explains why most passengers pay between AED 270 and 300 for this particular route.
Salik and Darb, the two tolls
Salik is the Dubai toll system. Each gate costs AED 6 from 6 to 10 AM and 4 to 8 PM, Monday to Saturday. Otherwise it costs AED 4, and it is free between 1 AM and 6 AM. Most journeys from Abu Dhabi pass one to three gates, and the taxi adds them to your fare. Darb is the Abu Dhabi toll, although licensed Abu Dhabi taxis are exempt.
Things the meter does not tell you
- A silver taxi is a sedan, and two large suitcases usually fill the boot completely. Four passengers with four suitcases often need two separate cars.
- The driver cannot collect a new passenger in Dubai and returns empty. Your own return requires a Dubai taxi, which charges more per kilometre.
- Street taxis do not provide child seats, although UAE law requires one for children under 4.
- Uber and Careem quote intercity journeys upfront, and their quote is often higher than the meter.

The cheapest ticket is not always the cheapest day. Remember the second taxi from the station, the extra hours and the effort of moving luggage.

The intercity bus
The E101 travels from Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station to Ibn Battuta in Dubai. The E100 continues to Al Ghubaiba, close to Bur Dubai. Seats cost AED 25 to 30, paid with a transit card at the station. The journey takes about 2 hours, followed by a metro or taxi to your hotel. It works well for solo travellers carrying one small bag. Families with children and suitcases usually find it difficult.
Etihad Rail: the new train between the two cities
Passenger trains began operating in 2026. The Abu Dhabi station is located in Mohamed Bin Zayed City. The Dubai terminal is Al Yalayis, close to Jumeirah Golf Estates. The train journey takes about 1 hour, with Comfort seats from AED 39.
The difficulty is reaching both stations. Khaleej Times calculated 3.5 to 4 hours from Deira to central Abu Dhabi, including a metro, shuttle and bus. For business travellers carrying a laptop bag, the train is a comfortable option. For families moving suitcases between hotels, a car remains about two hours faster.
Going to Dubai for the day and coming back?
This is where taxis become complicated. The Abu Dhabi taxi drops you and immediately leaves. In the evening you need a Dubai taxi willing to travel 150 km back. Khaleej Times estimated that return journey at roughly AED 390 before tolls.

How much is a taxi from Abu Dhabi to Dubai?
A metered Abu Dhabi taxi costs about AED 250 to 330 one way, roughly USD 68 to 90. The meter starts at AED 5 and adds AED 1.82 per kilometre. Booking by phone or app adds AED 4, and Salik tolls in Dubai come on top.
Does an Abu Dhabi taxi go to Dubai?
Yes. Silver Abu Dhabi taxis will take you to any address in Dubai on the meter. However, the driver cannot collect a new passenger in Dubai. For the return journey you need a Dubai taxi, the bus or a car that waits for you.
How much is a taxi from Abu Dhabi to Dubai Marina?
Expect approximately AED 235 to 260 on the meter for the 125 to 135 kilometre journey, plus Salik. Dubai Marina is closer to Abu Dhabi than most districts, so it is comparatively affordable.
How much is a taxi from Abu Dhabi to Dubai airport?

Is Salik included in the taxi fare?
No. Salik is charged at each gate in Dubai, costing AED 6 at peak times and AED 4 off peak. Gates are free from 1 AM to 6 AM. Most Abu Dhabi to Dubai journeys pass one to three gates. In our private car the tolls are already included.
Is Uber cheaper than a taxi from Abu Dhabi to Dubai?
Usually not. On this route UberX and Careem typically charge around AED 300 to 450, and larger vehicles cost more. A metered silver taxi is normally the more economical choice.
Is there a train from Abu Dhabi to Dubai?
Yes, since 2026. Trains leave Mohamed Bin Zayed City and arrive at Al Yalayis, near Jumeirah Golf Estates, roughly an hour later. Comfort fares start at AED 39. Both stations are outside the centres, so the complete journey takes 3.5 to 4 hours.
Is there a free bus or shuttle from Abu Dhabi to Dubai?
There is no free public shuttle between the cities. Some hotels and shopping malls operate their own guest shuttles, so ask at reception. The intercity bus costs AED 25 to 30 a seat.
Can I book a taxi from Abu Dhabi to Dubai for a set time?
Abu Dhabi taxis can be requested by phone or app, although they are rarely reserved hours ahead. If the pickup time really matters, book a private car. We confirm the time on WhatsApp, and the driver messages you before arriving.
Do you have child seats and room for luggage?
Yes. Child seats are complimentary on request in our private cars, so please mention the ages. A 7 seater comfortably carries the family plus large suitcases, which a sedan taxi cannot.
Is the price the same from Dubai to Abu Dhabi?

How do I pay and can I cancel?
Pay your driver on the day. Cash works best, in AED, USD or your own currency, and card is possible with a small fee. Nothing is taken when you book. Changing plans? Cancellations and date changes cost nothing until 12 hours before your driver is due.

A cancellation policy that covers your obligations but not ours is only half a document. Here is our side of it, in writing.
If we have to cancel your booking, for weather, a vehicle issue, or driver illness, we will contact you as soon as we know and rebook you at no charge on the next date that works for you. You pay nothing for the cancelled booking.
If we need to send a different vehicle than the one you booked, we will ask you first rather than turning up in something you did not book.
This is separate from your own cancellation rights, which are unchanged: you can cancel free up to 12 hours before pickup. Because we take no deposit and no booking fee, there is no money of yours sitting with us either way: nothing to chase, and nothing to wait for.
